NJTPA TIP and Long Range Plan Up For Public Comment

Earlier this year the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission put up their Long Range Plan, Transportation Improvement Program for New Jersey and Air Quality Conformity Determination up for public comment and the Commission adopted those documents today, which concluded with a picnic in Philadelphia.

Now its the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority's turn: Plan 2040, the NJTPA’s updated Regional Transportation Plan (RTP). The Fiscal Year 2014-2017 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). And the Air Quality Conformity Determination for the RTP and TIP. Copies of the draft documents and more details are available at: http://www.njtpa.org/Involved/comment/default.aspx.

All public comments must be received by August 12, 2013. For inquiries and comments contact Ted Ritter at 973-639-8447 or tritter@njtpa.org.

The NJTPA will hold a public meeting at its offices in Newark Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. to provide the public with an opportunity to learn more about the RTP, the TIP, and the Air Quality Conformity Determination and to submit comments.

For those who are acronym deficient here is an overview of the three documents:

  • The RTP is the federally mandated long-range transportation plan for the NJTPA’s 13-county region.
  • The TIP is the four-year, fiscally constrained agenda of transportation improvement projects drawn from the RTP.
  • The Air Quality Conformity Determination is a federally required analysis of the RTP and TIP.

The documents can be reviewed at the agency’s website, www.njtpa.org. A public open house meeting will be held on August 3, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the NJTPA. This public meeting will also serve as the public meeting for the draft FY 2012-2021 New Jersey Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). The New Jersey STIP is available for review on the following web site: www.state.nj.us/transportation/capital/stip1221/.

Written comments may be submitted by mail to the address above or by fax to the number above (Attn: David Behrend).

Comments may also be submitted by e-mail to dbehrend@njtpa.org. All comments must be received by close of business on August 22, 2011. For more information, contact David Behrend at (973) 639-8423.
